Commencement Forum | Pivot Points: 50 Years of Dance in Brown’s Open Curriculum
9:00 AM | Granoff Center for the Creative Arts, 154 Angell Street

The dance program began the same year as the establishment of the Brown Open Curriculum and one year before the merger of Brown and Pembroke College. Join Brown dance program founder Julie Adams Strandberg for a look back at five decades of dance at Brown and the social, political and cultural context of this milestone anniversary. The forum will include current students and faculty, dance alumni and dance professionals with a connection to Brown and will feature short performances and a preview of celebrations planned for the coming year.

The OTHER Campus Dance! Master dance class with Julie Adams Strandberg
4:00 PM | Granoff Center for the Creative Arts, 154 Angell Street
Join fellow alumni, students and guests who share your love for movement and dance. All levels are welcome, including those who haven’t taken a class in years. The class is free of charge.  Any contributions made at this event will be designated to the Dance @ Brown gift account, which supports dance-related programs, initiatives, activities, and resources.  We encourage donations by check so that Brown can properly acknowledge your gift to dance at Brown

Mande Dance Class 
4:00 PM – 5:30 PM | Nelson Fitness Center, Studio One, 225 Hope Street

Seydou Coulibaly and Michelle Bach-Coulibaly co-teach their popular Mande Dance class with Moussa Traore and friends on djembe ensemble. Come ready to dance, sing, and meet up with current and former Mande dance students.

The performance includes works by faculty, alumni, graduating seniors, and current students. General Admission $15 /  Senior Citizens $12 / Students $7.

TAPS Diploma Ceremony
2:00 PM | Stuart Theatre, 75 Waterman Street

Following the conclusion of the University ceremony, graduating seniors and their families attend department-specific diploma ceremonies and receptions at which students are awarded their diplomas individually. Refreshments served in Sharpe Park.
