Kate J Schapira, Senior Lecturer in EnglishAfter 6 years of holding conversations about climate emotions with acquaintances and strangers in public places, Kate Schapira is writing a book, Next Morning on Earth (Hachette Go, 2024) of stories, questions, and practices to transform those emotions into connection and action. She teaches nonfiction writing at Brown, and works toward environmental justice in Providence and elsewhere.



Baylor Fox-Kemper, Professor of Earth, Environmental and Planetary Sciences

Baylor Fox-Kemper is an oceanographer at Brown University and was a Coordinating Lead Author of the “Ocean, Cryosphere, and Sea Level Change” chapter of the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s Sixth Assessment Report (August, 2021). He works on models and remote sensing of climate change.



Lizzy Duke-Moe, Sunrise Brown

Lizzy is a first-year planning to concentrate in environmental science on a pre-med track.
She leads the Actions Team for Sunrise Brown. She is from Idaho and spent her time there
planting fire-wise native species, protecting endangered salmon, and fighting for LGBTQ+ youth voices
that are constantly under threat by the majority of Idahoan legislators.
